Barricata Beach, Italy
Beach time again. It was perfect… warm, soft sand, long beach…. perfect!
The Dolomites
We so wanted to hike in the Dolomites, a part of the chain of mountains in the Swiss Alps, accessed from the Italy side. As it turned out, we were only 14 miles from the Austrian border. Had the weather been better we considered walking across the border just to say we were in Austria.
San Vito di Cadore, Italy
We were 18 miles from the Austrian border and it looked like we had arrived in Switzerland. Every building, both in town and out of town looked like this. For our Washington friends, this made Leavenworth look like kids play.
Buongiorno Italy - Lake Como
First stop was Lake Como for a few days. The skys are a bit cloudy and rain with thunderstorms were expected. But it was still stunningly beautifu.. We love italy!
Journey/Part 2 - Monte Carlo, Monaco
We traveled from Barcelona, Spain to Avignon, France by train where we rented a car. We then traveled in France from Avignon → Aix en Provance → Nice then to Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Aix, En Provence, France
It is spring and all the flowers are blooming. These honeysuckle plants were just outside our door at the AirBnB in Aix. They remind me of my grandmother's home. I loved them then and still do.
Avignon, France
Avignon, France is a quaint little town, where the main part of the city is completely surrounded with 2.5 miles of historical walls. These walls still have battle towers and small passage walkways.
Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is a large city with some major roadways. But the majority of roads were these alley's that were everywhere. Occasionally, there were signs for one way directions, but now always.
Interesting and Unique Things
Weird, unique, strange things that are normal in Europe, but we don't see in the states
Seville, Spain
The Metropol Parasol in the center of Seville, is made predominantly of wood and is considered the ‘rooftop' of the city center. The picture only shows half of the structure. It is so big and so tall, you can't help but just stand and stare.
Granada, Spain
Welcome to Granada, a beautful town in the hill country of Spain. We were so impressed with how clean and groomed everything was, even their farmland. This is a view from our train ride.
Torremolinos, Spain
This is a beautiful city on the Mediterranean Sea and we have a wonderful studio apartment just two blocks from the malecon and beach area, with a great view overlooking the water.
