Torremolinos, Spain
There's a gentle breeze, the water is blue, the sky has puffy white clouds and we are ready for some beach days. Our apartment is on the 9th floor with a small balcony and was just perfect for our few days to rest and relax at Carihuela Beach.
We took several walks along the malecon, enjoyed the sites, the food, and put our toes in the sand and the sea. This is a beach town so there was plenty of people around, and the palapas, bars and restaurants were full, but no one was in the water, it was just still too cold.
One afternoon we walked down to the marina and were surprised how all the boats are stern tied. There were no slips. We bet this was an interesting effort to watch on windy days…. and every day we have been here has been windy.
To protect our waistlines and food costs, we often eat in for breakfast, and sometimes lunch, and then eat out in the late afternoon or evening. The food is delicious with lots of variety. This is one of my favorites.
But beware of what time you want to eat. When we first arrived, Keith kept telling me I was going to have to change my eating and sleeping habits. The Europeans don't eat dinner until 8:00 pm. Hmmm, for those who know me, I'm in bed by 8:00 pm. Gratefully, the sun is shining late into the evening so it wasn't difficult for me to stay up later. But one evening, it was 6:00 and we stopped into a restaurant for dinner. The host looked at us funny and said they don't begin seating for dinner until 7:00. We moved on and found an all day restaurant so we could eat. OK - Lesson learned.
We took an afternoon trip into Malaga and were surprised how big this city was. We were there for the Picasso Musem and to wander around and explore. This is one of the cathedrals in the main square.
We enjoyed our visit to the Picasso Museum and learned what a character he was. He definitely had a style all his very own. The one on the bottom right is a woman with her arms folded. I'm still not sure I see it. But I did recognize the face on the pottery.
You can tell it is spring here, these purple trees are everywhere and so colorful.
We finished the day at an outdoor restaurant and the woman next to us was from New Orleans. We enjoyed sharing stories and places to see.
Scruffy hubby needed some pampering, or a haircut. He got both and was very pleased with the results. I was wishing I could get some pampering too.
I wanted to show you this door. These are deadbolts, and there are six more on the hinge side of the door. No one is getting, even if we want them to.
This was our last day, so we did chores, like laundry, haircuts, laying in the sun by the pool… All the important thigns.
Our next destination is Granada, Spain, a quick train ride away.
