Venice, Italy- Day 1
We dropped the car off at the Venice Marco Polo International Airport and took a private water taxi over to Venice. Finally, our most favorite place in the world, a place with so many great memories. We were there for four days and could hardly wait.
This was our ride, a gorgeous, pristine ChrisCraft. Wow - it was beautiful. It reminded me of a dear friend of mine from years ago, Tim Johnson, who restored these beautiful boats. That is a lot of work.
Our apartment was on the north side of the islands, away from all the cruise ship traffic on the southwest side. We were right on a canal and our captain dropped us off almost right at our door.
I didn't get to drive, but I got to sit in the Captain's seat, while my hubby took off our luggage.
First stop was lunch… Caprese salad! The only sad thing was this is lettuce, not basil…hmmm
We headed over to the Rialto Bridge. It was late enough in the afternoon, there weren’t any crowds and we heard there may not have been a ship in port that day. It was so very nice. Notice our viewpoint….
… yup, we had to do a gondola ride. Again, many fun and loving memories.
We finished the day just wondering and we found this chocolate fountain. We couldn't think of a single person we know that wouldn't love one of these….
It was time to call it day so we meandered back. Meandering is a good thing!
