Day 10-11 Milos

This location was a treat because we were able to get on a dock. All boats stern tie into the dock with the anchor out front holding the boat off. Everyone had to work together so the anchor could drop just at the right time and the captain could maneuver the boat back into the space without hitting the boats on either side or the dock. It was quite the adventure but Captain Craig did it well. Now it was time to get off and walk the town. We all had lunch together, did some provisioning and then we meandered. There wasn't much to do and the draw was the caves.

It was an early start out of Milos and the day we were all dreading. We had to head north, and we knew it was going to be a challenging day so we got an early start. I don't think we knew how tough this was going to be. As soon as we were out of the harbor, the waves picked up and the wind became intense.

Almost everyone took dramamine and several were sick. It was ten hours of pounding waves. For many hours we were in 20+ feet / 3 second swells, and constant water over the bow. We later learned we were on the tail end of the cyclone and boy, did we feel it.

Jill and I were trying to keep a good attitude and have some fun, but we were wet and cold and still laughing a bit. We both agreed we didn't ever want to do that again.
