Omis, Croatia
We awoke to more heavy winds and learned we were not able to access our planned destination. The entrance was a narrow channel and while we might get in, we would have a tough time getting out. So our cruise team kicked into gear and found another spot we could land that had a beach, Omis (Oh Mish). It turned out to be just perfect.
The ship docked on a beautiful promenade on one side of the bay with a sandy beach on the other. The water was only 4-5 feet deep for quite a ways out, so it was a bit warmish.
An interesting note, the promenade sang to you. There were small holes in the pavement and as the water moved in and out under the walkway, it made whale and dolphin noises through the holes. It was very unique and it took us a bit to understand what the noise was… a singing sidewalk.
We took our towels and rented beach chairs and an umbrella and enjoyed the afternoon in the sun. There were kids and families playing everywhere. These paddle cars were quite the hit.
After a bit, Buba and Dasha (left pic) invited us to join them for a drink in the shade and we readily accepted. A bit later, Mark and Amanda (right pic) joined us. It was a lovely afternoon.
We finished the day with a walk to the river and then dinner. It was a very pleasant, low key day.
