Trogir Old Town, Croatia
Welcome to Trogir (Troe-Geer). We have a dear friend who's family is from this area. She and many others have told us how beautiful Croatia is and we were excited to visit.
We wanted to spend time on the water, and touring the islands and found a cruise that was just the ticket. We were boarding the boat from this little island, and found a perfect little apartment for a few days stay before the cruise.
The island in this picture is Trogir Old Town and is very small. It takes about 5-15 minutes to walk from one side to the other in all directions.
We had a beautiful little AirBnB on the first floor of this old building. On the left side you can see the awning of a great restaurant where we had breakfast each morning.
The cobble stone walkways are narrow and all the buildings are made from limestone, which was very similar to other places we visited. This little town was founded in the 3rd century BC as a trading settlement by Greek colonists. It has easy access to the Adriatic Sea and is the launching point for many boat cruises today.
This is the bridge crossing the canal onto the island, into a beautiful park.
On the opposite side of the island is the main channel, where this castle sits, out on the corner.
I just loved this picture of 4 old men, meeting for coffee, talking and laughing in the cool of the morning.
